Trails lead off into the rainforest from the teak deck that wraps around Leo's place...

Your Tropical Retreat in Costa Rica Leo’s is a breathtaking building showcasing an assortment of natural construction techniques. The house is located on 250-acres of protected rainforest in front of La Cangreja National Park. You may rent individual rooms or the entire house.
Beauty in Green Architecture
The structure was built using locally procured materials, including wood milled on site, bamboo, clay and even coconut shells. It is a stunning work of art, with bamboo molding, poured adobe floors, cedar siding, custom built furniture, bamboo walls with cob infill, beautiful views out the front and back porches, and much more.
This incredible property, protected as a private wildlife refuge, features hundreds of acres of protected tropical forest, five kilometers of immaculate trails, abundant wildlife, fruits trees, views to the Pacific Ocean, waterfalls, swimming holes, and so much more.
Off The Beaten Path
Leo’s is off-the-beaten path and unbelievably tranquil, though only an hour from Costa Rica’s Central Pacific Coast beaches. It’s an amazing place to hike, swing in a hammock, write, read, add to your birding list, or just totally decompress.
It’s a dream for nature lovers. The trails leave right from the front door of the house and you might view monkeys and other rainforest animals from the front porch.
Leo's comes equipped with a refrigerator, stand-along freezer, stove, running water, electricity, an indoor and outdoor shower and flush toilet. All meals, traditional Costa Rican fare, are served at Rancho Mastatal’s main house. The cost of the meals is included in the rates.
Meals
Visitors have the option to cook for themselves, or eat with the owners of Rancho Mastatal in their communal setting at the main house (one kilometer away). Meals run $10 per day (breakfast, lunch and dinner) at the main house of nearby Rancho Mastatal. Those choosing to cook for themselves will have to bring in all of their food needs from outside of the area, as there are no supermarkets in the region.

Leo's interior surrounds you with natural surfaces - stone, bamboo, earthen walls and local hardwoods

All guests cooking their own meals are asked to carry out all of their garbage to dispose of it in one of Costa Rica's metropolitan centers, as there is no garbage collection service in Mastatal.
PLEASE MINIMIZE THE AMOUNT OF GARBAGE THAT YOU GENERATE.
We do not discourage people to cook for themselves, only that they be responsible to the community and environment.
Leo's comes complete with a working kitchen with refrigerator, stand-alone freezer, pots, pans, and everything you will need to prepare our own food.
